TIGG CORPORATION – ACTIVATED CARBON MANUFACTURER

In today’s world of environmental awareness, the need for cleaning up waste and contamination from industrial sites has become vital to both environmentalist and for corporations. Pennsylvania is home to one manufacturer that has been addressing these environmental remediation issues for over 30 years. TIGG Corporation, based in Oakdale, Pennsylvania is a manufacturer of activated carbon products including activated carbon adsorbers (Not Absorbers) and activated carbon filters and activated carbon filter media for both liquid and vapor remediation.

TIGG is a leader in the activated carbon industry because they provide activated carbon filter media and adsorbers, ready to ship at a moment’s notice. Products and services include pumps and blowers, pre-filters, mist eliminators, ductwork and piping modules, and instrumentation and controls. In addition to systems that remove organics, They also provide systems to remove dissolved metals, oil and grease and particulates. TIGG has experienced a large growth in the activated carbon rental market.

TIGG’s Activated Carbon History:

In 1977 TIGG was established because a market existed for pre-engineered, ready-to-use activated carbon modular adsorbers, particularly in the emerging pollution control market. In 1981, TIGG introduced the first upflow and radial flow NIXTOX® vapor phase units and a similar group of CANSORB® liquid phase activated carbon adsorbers. The TIGG’s radial NIXTOX® design won Pollution Engineering’s 5 Star Award for “significant technical advancement.”

Other pollution control developments in the 1982 to 1986 period were a continued expansion of the NIXTOX® and CANSORB® product lines to treat higher flows, the introduction of ENVIROSORB® Lab Sentry® work station adsorber, work on prototype polyethylene-lined vessels, development of special NIXTOX® units for removal of arsine in the electronics industry and for conversion of ethylene oxide to ethylene glycol.

The whole idea of It’s made in Pennsylvania is to highlight products and manufacturers in the state of Pennsylvania and to educate everyone on just how many diversified products and services come out of PA.

To begin, let’s start with a little background, Pennsylvania has a long standing reputation for being a strong manufacturing state. From steel mills in Pittsburgh, tool shops in Meadville, and food manufacturing companies in the Lancaster and York area.

Just a few notable products that came from PA include: Carters Little Pills, Cannondale Bicycles, GE Locomotives, Sony plasma screen televisions, and even VW Rabbits back in the 1980s. Each area of Pennsylvania has established areas of specific industries and while the past few years have been exceptionally hard on manufacturing, there are still strong and even new up and coming manufacturers.

Our purpose is to help highlight manufacturing companies from the great state of Pennsylvania.

Solar Power Industries:

Formed in 2003, Solar Power Industries (SPI) has established itself as an emerging leader in the manufacturing of solar cells and related products, demonstrating significant growth in each year of its existence. With the strong need for Green Energy and Clean energy products, solar power is fast becoming a strong manufacturing market.

Solar Power Industries is unique to solar power because it not only manufactures the photo voltaic solar cells and modules but actually has the facilities to turn raw feedstock (silicon) into ingots, bricks and multi-crystalline silicon wafers. The facility uses Directional Solidification System or DSS furnaces to process the raw silicon. The resulting product is a large silicon ingot which is then sliced into smaller blocks called bricks and further sliced into silicon wafers. These products may be sold to other solar cell companies or go on to be made into solar cells and solar panels called solar modules
